A Lifelong Love for Great Danes

Hi, I’m Tim Breen—a lifelong dog lover with a special place in my heart for one of the most majestic, goofy, and lovable breeds in the world: the Great Dane.

My journey with these gentle giants began years ago when I decided to take the leap into breeding and raising Great Danes. It didn’t take long for me to fall completely in love—not just with the breed’s impressive size and beauty, but with their incredible personalities. If you’ve ever met a Great Dane, you know they’re a delightful mix of regal grace and pure silliness. They can go from lounging like royalty on the couch to bounding around like a puppy in the blink of an eye.

From Breeder to Forever Owner

When I first started breeding, I was filled with excitement—but also a deep sense of responsibility. My biggest fear was sending one of my puppies to the wrong family. I wanted to be absolutely sure each Great Dane went to a loving home where they’d be cherished for life. That fear sometimes kept me up at night, and it’s also the reason why I now share my home with four amazing Great Danes of my own.

Each one has their own personality, quirks, and habits, but all of them share that unmistakable Great Dane charm—equal parts loyal protector, goofy clown, and affectionate couch potato.

Lessons Learned from Raising Great Danes

Breeding and raising Great Danes taught me more than I ever imagined about dogs in general. I learned how important it is to understand a dog’s unique physical and emotional needs—especially for large breeds whose size can sometimes lead to unique health and training challenges.

Over the years, I’ve picked up countless tips, tricks, and strategies that make life with a Great Dane (or any dog!) easier and more rewarding. While some advice is specific to Danes—like how to prevent bloat, protect growing joints, or manage their enormous appetite—much of what I’ve learned applies to all breeds.

That’s why I created my website and Pinterest account: to share that knowledge with other dog owners so they can build a happier, healthier relationship with their pets.

Why I’m on a Mission to Help

One of the hardest things for me to see is a Great Dane in a shelter. It breaks my heart every time. These dogs thrive on companionship and love, and they can struggle in a shelter environment. Many times, the reason they end up there isn’t because they’re bad dogs—it’s because their owners didn’t know what to expect or how to handle their unique needs.

That’s where my mission comes in:
I want to help new and experienced Great Dane owners understand the breed better so they never feel they have to give them up.
